Froukje Degenaar (piano)

I give piano lessons for all ages and levels: from beginners to advanced, for adults, teenagers and children. You can start from 6 years old.

At every level, from the very beginning, you can experience the pleasure of making music. At the same time, we are building a solid foundation, so that you can continue to expand your musical possibilities in the future. Attention is paid to playing technique (body use and sound production), musical expression, reading of notes and musical insight. I also help build good practise habits, so that you can overcome difficulties and become more and more independent.

I teach tailor-made: in line with the interests and talents of the student, we look at which sides of piano playing will receive the most attention. I like to help people play their own favorite music; I also challenge them to discover all kinds of different music styles. Those who like to play together are welcome to come to class with another musician.

In 2009, I obtained my master’s degree in piano (classical) at the Utrecht Conservatory. My teachers were Klára Würtz, Henk Ekkel and Paolo Giacometti. I also studied piano at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg for a year, and I followed master classes from Rudolf Jansen (song accompaniment), Kyoko Hashimoto (chamber music), Paul Badura-Skoda, Vitaly Margulis and Peter Feuchtwanger (piano solo). I perform regularly, as a solo pianist or, for example, as a duo with vocals or cello. In 2016, I completed my master’s degree in musicology cum laude at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Since 2008, I have built up broad teaching experience, with my own teaching practices in Utrecht and Laren. With my students, I enjoy working on a variety of musical styles, from pop and rock to jazz and classical. Since September 2017 I have been teaching at the Music Academy The Hague.
