Rachel Daniëls

Cello

I'm Rachel and I play the cello in various ensembles and projects. In addition, I have been giving individual lessons to young and old for a number of years, and I work on all kinds of different classical projects and projects in different music styles.

I started taking cello lessons at the music school in Helmond when I was 7, after I had followed a year of general musical education. The cello, with its beautiful low tones and melodies, immediately attracted me – and when I saw this instrument play in a large orchestra I was completely sold. At the age of 12 I started at the Havo for Music and Dance in Rotterdam, and then moved on to the Bachelor of Classical Cello with Prof. Herrejan Stegenga. I also took masterclasses with Jeroen den Herder and Angel Luis Quintana, among others. In 2018 I obtained my diploma at the Rotterdam Conservatory, after which I continued my master's degree in Tilburg with Prof. Paul Uyterlinde and Larissa Groeneveld.

In my years of playing the cello, I have built up a lot of experience in chamber music and as an orchestral musician, something that I still love to do today. This is the reason why I also want to encourage all my students as much as possible to play together or in an orchestra in addition to individual lessons.

Students can come to me from young to very old and at beginner to advanced levels. After a first lesson, I draw up a suitable lesson plan together with the student, according to the level and pace that best suits the student. I want to give my students every opportunity to progress at their own level and time. I do, however, require all my students to practice at home outside of class. So keep in mind that you have to make time during the week to work on the lesson. Fun and educational lessons are a priority for me.
