I am a drummer, composer, and educator from Belgium (°1984), currently living near The Hague, and I’m looking forward to pass on my love for music to you. Playing drums isn’t just about hitting the damn thing! It’s about listening, getting to know how your body works and how to stay relaxed and focused, how to play together with music and with other people, how to learn new things, how to experiment and create your own ideas, how to work on your groove, timing and sound.
I absolutely love this instrument, and look forward playing it together.
I studied music at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (jazz-drums) and at the Conservatory of Ghent (pop-drums, with extra courses in composition), obtained a Master in Performing, in Education, and in Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Antwerp.
I love music and drums in all different forms and styles, and love working in very different fields of the profession. My work consists of playing as a drummer in recording sessions, live, and in theatre; as a composer for theatre & film; and as an educator and coordinator of the Jazz-Pop-Rock department at the Boom Music Academy, at the MDH, and occasionally as a coach at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
I have a big love for strange sounds, improvisation, building silly things, and experimentation.
I also experiment with modular synthesis and electronics, and I’m a strong believer in the clumsy art of dedicated tinkering.
